PSALM SEVEN (7)

Psalm 7:10 "My defense is God, which saveth the upright in heart."

PSALM 7:1-10
DAVID'S CONFIDENCE IN DAYS OF PERSECUTIONS

Psalm seven (7) is a song and prayer of King David, asking God's help.

SITUATION OF KING DAVID

What is the situation of King David in this chapter?

In verse one (1) of this chapter, King David opened his heart to God and revealed his true standing before God.

If we can notice King David was asking for help from the Lord because of them who persecutes Him.

Personally, it is hard to focus on serving the Lord if someone is looking for your work before God, and the hardest thing is they will not look after your good deeds, but they are looking and after your faults. They are the ones that are happy to see you down.

That's why King David prayed "[1] O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:" There are no good emotions,  positive thoughts you have when you are in the stage of persecution.  "[2] Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver." - This is a prayer of urgency because King David feels that if he stays long in that situation his persecutors will rending his soul into pieces. Meaning he will never survive in that situation. That's why he continues praying

[3] O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
[4] If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)
[5] Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

King David's prayer is like praying and setting agreement, negation, and bargaining himself to the Lord, that if he was doing anything to anyone he is open and willing to be punished by God, but King David was very confident that he will not be punished by God because he never did wrong to anyone, and even to them that persecutes him.

[6] Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
[7]  So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

To be corrected, King David was not commanding God, but in this verse, King David was confident that he never did anything wrong from anyone. Even he was surrounded by persecutors. He believes that God will arise and saved him from those that persecute him.

[8]  The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
[9] Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

For King David, the Lord is the one who will judge him in all his works. He wants God to judge his righteousness according to the truth that is with him.  What do you think is why King David wants to judge his righteousness work before God in this situation?

1. Psalm 7:1 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust. -  from the beginning of his circumstances, King David trust the Lord that whatever situation he was in God is with Him all the time.

2. Psalm 7:10  My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

3. 2Ti 4:8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

As I've said, King David is very confident about his standing before God, He knew that God is the judge, protector, defender, banner of them that has an upright heart.

Brethren,
If the day that the persecutor comes, let us be like King David has the confidence that the Lord we serve is always in us, ready to be our banner, protector, defender, saver.

There are conditions that we must do if we want God to be our banner, protector, defender, saver.

What are those?
1. We need to be upright before God.
2. We need to trust God regarding the situation we were in.
3. We need to live righteous before God regardless of the situation and the persecutor pushes or delivers us into sin.

Always bring glory and gladness in God by doing what is upright before Him despite the world's sin by this God will be on our side when the day of persecution comes.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

 Letter for my Brethren
I pray that on the day of persecution, your trust is always on God, so you may be able to see the goodness of the Lord in your life.
The love of God may fill your heart and the Holy Spirit teach you to trust God in every situation you were in.

I plead the blood of Jesus to cover you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
