Psalm 5

When you feel you were alone in that battle, remember: The Lord is with you and he will not let you lose that battle.

What is Psalms 5 for, for King David?

This was a prayer of King David to God.

When we read this chapter, King David is like praying for the destruction of his enemies.

But if we read this deeper with understanding, and if we know king David well, we will know that he did not pray for the destruction of his enemies.

Yes. He never thinks for destruction, death, of his enemies. If you could remember how his enemies were so wicked and desired to kill him, but he never plans to revenge against them but he always trust them in the hands of God and let the Lord move in their lives.

NOW IN HIS PRAYER IN VERSES:

Psalm 5:4 “For thou art, not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.”

Psalm 5:5 “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.”

Psalm 5:6 “Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.”

Psalm 5:9 “For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.”

Psalm 5:10 “Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.”

These are what will be going to happen to them that are sinners or wicked in the sight of God.

The truth is that there is no good thing that happens to them who have no fear of one and true God.

WHAT ARE THOSE:
1. God has no pleasure in them.
2. God will never dwell with them.
3. They will not stand before God.
4. God hates them
5. God will destroy them
6. God abhors them
7. They will fall into their counsel
8. They will be cast out

He prayed verses 4,5,6,9,10, not because he cursed the wicked and sinners but because he knew what will happen to them.

This was a prayer or a psalm of King David that was written to be known by every one of us that being wicked and the sinner has no part in heaven.

KING DAVID NEVER WANTS THOSE THINGS TO HAPPEN TO HIM THAT’S WHY HE PRAYED:

Psalm 5:1 “Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.”

Psalm 5:2 “Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.”

Psalm 5:3 “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”

Things that king David did that was written in verses 1 thru 3; for he doesn’t want to be wicked and sinner before God:

1. He set himself to pray in the dawn. - The word Morning in verse 3 means dawn.

2. He set himself to wait for the Lord’s answer. - The word Lookup in verse 3 means await.

King David was aware that if he did not set himself into prayer he will become bad, wicked, a sinner like his enemies. That there was no difference between them in the sight of God.

He asked the Lord to hear him when he prays because King David wants to assure himself that his prayer was received on the throne of God’s grace.

And the assurance of this is seeing the answer of God to his prayer face to face.

SPIRITED STATEMENT OF KING DAVID

Psalm 5:7 “But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.”

Psalm 5:8 “Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.”

He said these words because:
1. He was aware that he never did anything that will put the name of God in shame.
2. He was aware that he do anything for God’s glory alone.
3. He was aware that he never do what his enemies did to God.

Brethren,

Like King David we must:
1. Pray in the dawn
2. Wait for an answer
3. Flee for the works of the sinner and wicked ones.

We should be like King David, in terms of giving himself in PRAYING, not only praying but WAITING for the answer to our prayers, and while we wait for an answer to our prayer do what the will of God, FLEE for all unnecessary works that not pleasing in the sight of God.

RESULT IF WE DO THIS

Psalm 5:11 “But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”

Psalm 5:12 “For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
