God's grace is sufficient |
As I look back over the years I’ve spent serving the Lord, I can clearly see His hand at work in my life.
Let me be real with you—I won't pretend that I’ve always felt strong, that I’ve always sensed His presence, or that I’ve always been in a perfect spiritual condition. I’ve had moments of weakness, dryness, and deep inner battles. But by God’s grace, not once did I ever think of quitting.
Some who know me personally may think I’m always strong, always joyful, and never shaken. They might assume I’ve never faced spiritual droughts, never walked through the desert, never felt emotionally worn out. To them, I might look like an unshakable Christian.
But let me tell you the truth: I am a Christian who has faced some of the darkest nights of the soul. I’ve been through rough roads, spiritual warfare, temptations that seemed appealing to the flesh, and emotional breakdowns that left me weary. There were days I had to wear my best smile even when my heart was breaking. Have you ever been there?
Still, with all that said, I proudly declare: “By the grace of God, I am still a Christian.” Not by my strength, not because of the people around me, not because of a church or any wise advice—though I’m truly thankful for all of them. God used them, yes. But at the very root of it all is His grace—pure, sustaining, and undeserved grace that carried me through.
Because without God's grace I maybe one of them who called "backsliders".
So if you’re weary, if you’ve been walking through a dry season, let me encourage you: You’re not alone. And God’s grace is enough
2 Corinthians 12:9
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,"
WHAT IS GRACE OF GOD?
1. Grace is a gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
2. Grace is given even we were unworthy of this because of sins.
Ephesians 2:4-5
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
3. Grace of God offers salvation to all people.
Titus 2:11
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,"
The grace of God is sufficient to all of us who are?:
1. Weak - 2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,"
2. Are bind in sins. Romans 5:20 "Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:"
3. Saved. Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
FEELING WEEK AND READY TO GIVE UP?
Are you feeling weak today? Have you been tempted to give up on your ministry—or even your walk with Christ—because it seems like nothing is helping you grow spiritually?
Be encouraged: God's grace is more than enough, even when we don’t know what to do or where to turn. His grace can meet you in your lowest place and lift you higher than you've ever been. You are not alone, and you are not forgotten.
Even the Apostle Paul faced deep trials in ministry—challenges that tested his love and obedience to God. At one point, he described a persistent spiritual attack—a “thorn in the flesh,” a messenger of Satan sent to oppose him and hinder the work God was doing through him.
Paul pleaded with God three times to remove this burden. But God didn’t take it away. Instead, He answered with these powerful words: "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities," 2 Corinthians 12:9
God wasn’t ignoring Paul’s pain—He was revealing a greater truth: that His grace is most powerful when we are at our weakest.
Paul didn’t quit. He didn’t let the trial define him. Instead, he embraced it, saying: "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." - 2 Corinthians 12:10
God didn’t make a mistake. He was showing Paul—and us—that His grace can carry us through anything. And just like Paul, you too can endure, grow, and overcome—not by your strength, but by His.
So, if you feel like giving up, don’t. His grace is still sufficient. Keep going. God is not finished with you yet.
Brethren,
Do you feel like you're hanging by a thread—so close to giving up, whether in the ministry or in your walk with Christ?
If that’s where you are today, look again to the Lord. See how powerful He is, and how His grace is always sufficient—for you, for me, for all who are called to run this race set before us.
Just as God's grace strengthened the Apostle Paul in his weakness, He will reach you too. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
God never runs out of grace. He never comes up short in supplying strength, hope, or help to His children.
As the Tagalog Christian song says:
“Ikaw ang aking Pastol, hindi magkukulang, sapat na at higit pa.” (“You are my Shepherd; I shall not want. You are enough and more than enough.”)
Maybe today you’re thinking that quitting is the only way to make things better—but I want to remind you: giving up is not the answer.
The answer is this: ask God to pour out His abundant grace upon you. Because His grace is not only sufficient—it is overflowing.
Keep going. You're not alone. Grace is coming.
TO THE GOD BE THE GLORY
Letter to my Brethren
John 1:16 "And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."
I pray that in whatever situation you are or have been, you may find God's grace to be more than sufficient. May His grace overflow in your life, so that you become a channel of blessing to those who have forgotten the sweetness of His grace.
May your abiding in the presence of the Lord be a powerful testimony to those who are spiritually weary. I plead the blood of Jesus over you—for protection, healing, and strength.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
