Before, I thought faith and belief is just the same thing, but these two are exactly different.
Difference between faith and believe
(Disclaimer: on my definition accept it or not it is your choice. ☺)
Faith is complete trust and confidence in the things not seen.
For example, we cannot see God face to face, like what we see in heaven, but we have faith that brings us to the belief that there is God and He is existing.
Believe is a feeling that something is true because we saw it existing.
For example, we believe that there is heaven because we already see it.
Another example, some people believe there is God because they have reflections of it.
We also used the word to believe in God because of His work done in our lives. His works bring us to believe and eventually having faith in God that He is alive and existing.
Therefore, we should use faith in terms of heavenly or heavenliness.
Like what Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
That’s why Apostle Paul taught us to walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
HAVING FAITH IN JESUS
Having faith in Jesus is a requirement that God is looking for in every believer of Him.
Believe is not enough to be saved, we need FAITH to be saved.
How about in John 3:16 we can read the word “BELIEVETH” IF IN HEAVENLIES/HEAVELINESS WE MUST USE THE WORD FAITH?
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
In this verse, we can read the word BELIEVETH which in original meaning is TO HAVE FAITH.
Again it falls to the word FAITH.
Surprisingly the BELIEVETH here is continuance. Meaning faith day by day.
- Faith that is foolproof.
- Faith without boundaries.
- The faith which doubt is absent whatever we have and we don’t have anything.
IMPORTANT TO BE KNOWN: ALL BELIEVETH, BELIEVED, BELIEVE WORDS IN THE BIBLE HAVE THE SAME MEANING “TO HAVE FAITH”.
WE SHOULD HAVE FAITH IN JESUS BECAUSE:
1. THAT WE SHOULD NOT PERISH OR DIE BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Faith is a requirement to enter heaven. But, it is a good thing to know that even we are still alive we have already eternal life because we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternal life is the best gift we can ever receive from the Lord. Do you know why? Because it is the life of God Himself.
As we can see, it is not the benefit of Jesus if we have faith in Him, but it is our benefit if we have faith in Him. It is for our salvation.
2. THERE IS NONE OTHER NAME THAT WE COULD HAVE SALVATION BUT THE NAME OF JESUS ONLY.
Acts 4:12
"Neither is their salvation in any other: for there is none another name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
People usually call another name to be saved, but in the verse above, it is very clear that men can be saved by only ONE NAME THAT IS GIVEN TO ALL MEN TO BE SAVED. IT IS THE NAME OF JESUS.
Salvation can be received by all men if we also received it in our whole heart, mind, soul, and having faith that only Jesus can save mankind.
3. THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE CONDEMNED
John 3:18,36
[18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
[36] He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Did you experience being rejected by anyone?
How bad it is? How painful is that? Sometimes, if we are rejected we feel unworthy, disappointed, and all kinds of negativity of emotions and mind we have.
How much more if God himself rejects us? It is painful, right?
However, if we have faith in Jesus we will not be condemned by God, but rather He will receive us as His own.
No one enters heaven that is condemned by God. Anyone that is condemned is considered by God as His enemy and cannot enter heaven.
Do you want to be condemned, if not, received Jesus and have faith in Him?
4. THAT WE SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
1 John 5:11-12
[11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Receiving eternal life is not after you die, it is also can be received when we are still living here on earth.
Eternal life is the best thing you can ever receive from the Lord because this is His life.
These reasons are enough to have FAITH in JESUS.
God is looking on earth right now, and He is looking to all He created if He will find faith in us.
Having faith in Jesus is needed, after all this is not for the benefit of God, but this is for the benefit of us.
Are you still believe that there is life after death?
Or I might say, do you believe in forever? Maybe, here on earth, there is no such "forever", but in heaven or hell where we can start our forever depends on how we live on earth before God.
But, if we want to live and start our forever, our second life on earth ONE NAME WAS GIVEN TO ALL MEN TO HAVE FAITH AND TO BELIEVE WITH it is our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do you accept Jesus? If not, don't believe that you will enter heaven.
HAVING FAITH IN JESUS?
If you believe and having faith in Jesus right now, it is important to confess it now.
Romans 10:9-10
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
Confession is a stronger weapon to Satan that you are sealed in the name of Jesus. It is also a frontispiece to Satan's defeat that you do not belong to him, neither he is no longer part of your life. - Marie ate
NOT YET READY?
If you are not yet ready, remember God is waiting outside of your heart and He is knocking on the door of your heart.
Revelation 3:20
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me."
What will be your answer? The key of your heart is in your hand, and it’s up to you if you’ll open it or not.
But the question is, how long God will wait for you to open your heart for him?
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Letter for my Brethren,
I pray your heart is ready to believe and have faith in Jesus, for there is no way that we can have eternal life and be saved but by our Lord Jesus Christ alone.
I plead the blood of Jesus to cover you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
