In my previews blog post that I've shared with you about the Ten Commandment in Exodus 20.
We all know that the Ten Commandment was not a plea to all Israelites at that time, but a COMMAND that should do by all Israelites.
But now, as these Commandments are already known by all of us, we must also obey the command of the Lord.
One of the Commandments of the Lord that we will take time to look at and to study is Part Two (2) of Graven Image in Exodus 20:4-5.
This blog will focus on all people who have what we called "IDOL" or some words say "they are my Hero" - these words I usually hear from a person that wherein a very desperate situation of their lives and the person they called "hero" will help them. In this case, they look up to this man or woman and they want to become them someday which will lead them to do whatever the 'hero' did.
IDOLISM
If in the days of Daniel the people were threatened and frightened by the command of King Nebuchadnezzar to worship the golden statue he made.
In our generation, men are not commanded and threaten by someone to worship and to idolized someone but they were doing this by their OWN WILL.
These are the days that people are not afraid to express themselves regarding idolizing. They are proud of saying whom they admire the most.
Because of idolizing someone, many children, youth, and adults act and speak like them.
This is very disturbing, right?
Have you seen a concert or have you been to a concert?
What have you observed?
We can see that while the band or the singer performs their fans are raising their hands while they were singing the performance song. They were entertained. Some of them were crying, and become wild.
Some are acting and dressing like their idols.
And these things are not easily recognized by everyone, right? Because we sometimes see that those things normally happen especially to children and youth nowadays.
I've been there...
I do remember, when I was in Elementary grade, I became a fan of a Japanese TV teen show, called "F4", I do have text cards, I do like their photos, and all staff that is about to them.
My best friend and I are dreaming to be like the main actress in that teen TV show, that's why we do act like her. I thought this kind of behavior is normal to a teenager like me at that time, but it is not.
Looking back at that time, I see that Satan gets played with our innocent minds to think for an ideal partner to have at a young age and he also gets played our innocent emotions. Imagine a young age, I know already to be thrilled.
And today...
It is not hard for today to recognize who is someone's idol. Right?
In their appearance, we can easily determine them. How they dress, act, and speak.
People today are not ashamed in expressing themselves especially if they idolized someone.
WHAT THE LORD FEELS?
What does the Lord feel when all mankind is proud of what they were doing? Can you feel the Lord's jealousy, anger, and sadness? How many tears did God shed for all mankind because of creating and setting other gods in their hearts?
In this case, even we don't utter anything before God, our actions already tell that the Lord has no place in our hearts.
But the Bible tells us that there should be only one that we should be proud of.
Psalms 34:2 "My soul shall make her boast in the LORD:the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad."
Psalms 44:8 "In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name forever. Selah."
Romans 15:17 "I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God"
1 Corinthians 1:31 "That, according to as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
2 Corinthians 10:17 "But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
The word BOAST in Psalms 34:2; 44:8; and GLORY in Romans 15:17; 1 Cor. 1:31; 2 Cor. 10:17 means TO BE PROUD OF.
If there we should be proud of, it is not the idol you have, but it should be God.
But the truth is, many people today are ashamed and to go to church and Bible Studies. If they will attend a church service or bible study, they are ashamed to raise their hands, shout praises to the Lord, join church activities,
Brethren,
Satan finds a way how to break God's heart and how to drown men to sin. (a) It is by using men to men. (b) Men to earthly pleasure: praises of men, treasures, popularity, and higher standard of living. Which these kinds of things are hard to refuse and rejected by men. (c) Men to false teaching.
WHY IS SATAN DOING THESE?
1. Satan wants to put men's affection to men. He doesn't want their affection or love to be given to the Lord.
2. Satan wants our time to be in them (popular or known person).
3. Satan wants us to enjoy the things of this world and forget the things of the Lord and the Lord Himself.
4. Satan wants us to be with Him, rather than with God.
5. Satan wants to praise and worship him by men through loving the world.
In this case, the Lord's commandment "Thou shalt not have other gods before me" is the first command of God that was broken by all mankind.
Believe it or not, we easily broke the heart of God by doing things that we thought is just a normal or part of our life, but it is not.
In these last days, we should be aware of what we are doing and what are the things that we spend much time on. Because if we're not aware of what we are doing we easily replace the Lord in our hearts.
Remember that you were not created by God like a robot. It is always our choice if we were going to create and set another god in our lives.
Surely, if you want to be blessed, you will immediately remove all idols that you have.
However, if you will not throw away and remove all idols in your life, God will remember you and your sins up to the fourth of your generations.
Stop looking up to someone that will lead you to follow them.
Always REMEMBER: WE AS CHRISTIANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FOLLOW SOMEONE, BUT ONLY ALLOWED TO FOLLOW JESUS.
BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST TODAY.
