No Other God - Exodus 20:3

Exodus 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

In my preview blog posts, I've talked about "The Ten Commandments".

One of the Ten Commandments in Exodus is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"

Did you know that this commandment is the number one, and the main sin made by all mankind, even the first men which is Adam and Eve?

Yes. This was the first sin made by the first men. Also, a sin committed by all men living today.

As we read in Genesis 3:1 — 6

[1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? [2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

It is stated there how they sinned against God.

Many preachers are teaching the congregation that the first men sinned against God because of disobedience, right?

This, not a bad or wrong teaching or wrong doctrine.

However, most of us are focused and focusing on Adam and Eve's disobedience. Not noticing what is behind all of their disobedience.

BEHIND THEIR DISOBEDIENCE

I Believe that every action we make if it is for disobedience or obedience it has a reason behind it.

Now, in the case of the first men, it is not only because of the serpent which is the devil is the reason why they fell into temptation but there is in the heart that leads them to fall into temptation.

Remember, the devil, never know what is in our hearts. He never knows what is in our minds. So, how the devil tempted Adam and Eve if he never knows what is in the heart and mind of the first men?

It is simply because of the actions they make.

Yes. Yes. Yes. We have an action that is saying the exact answer that even we're not confessing it we're answering the particular questions.

And that's what happens to Eve when she was tempted by the devil to eat the forbidden food.

It is in the action of Eve why the devil takes his action to tempt Eve.

THE LORD COMMANDED THEM

Now, Eve knows that the Lord commanded them to not eat the fruit that was in the center of the garden.

Gen 2:16 — Gen 2:17
[16] And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

It is very clear to the first men what the Lord Commanded them.

However, they disobeyed the Lord because they first wanted to obey their own will rather than the will of the Lord.

IN THIS SITUATION

I. SELF. is the most and the greatest enemy of your own.

Even we want to obey God, it comes that there is a certain situation that it is ourselves who comes first.

And that's the time when we become the god of our own selves.

Like what happened to Eve and Adam,  they disobeyed God that turns them to get sinned against God.

Even the Israelites who were in Mount Sinai, did a Golden Calf, not because of the urge of someone, nor of the fear, but because they let themselves be the god of their own.

Exodus 32:1 — 8

[1] And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. [2] And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. [3] And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. [4] And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. [5] And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. [6] And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. [7] And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: [8] They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Brethren,

The devil is not the main enemy of all men.

But it is ourselves! the devil cannot do anything from us except we let him do what he plans for us.

We have the all authority to permit or not the devil to work in us.

Always Remember: He can work in us in a way how we act and talk on this day.

In these ways, the devil will know what is in our mind and heart, and when he noticed that, he will not waste his time, but he will do all his best for you to fall into all temptations and commit sin against God, by doing your will.

By this we let ourselves be the god of our own.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Pray with all your heart
 Letter for my Brethren

I pray that every one of us be reminded that we always do the will of God in our lives. Let the Spirit of God always teach us what to do and say so that the devil won't do harm in us nor put a trap that will lead us to fall into temptations.

I plead the blood of Jesus to cover us in all harm, in Jesus' name, Amen.
