| The name of Jesus Christ is the excellent name. |
PSALM 8:9
"O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
The word EXCELLENT in this verse means POWERFUL.
So, if we will change the adjective word here, which is excellent in this verse it will be like: "O LORD our Lord, how powerful is thy name in all the earth!"
And the NAME which is pertaining to is JESUS.
How excellent is the name of JESUS above the earth?
In the first book, the first chapter, and the first verse of the Bible, God revealed Himself as powerful.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The power of God is not been hidden in the sight of all His creation. How he made all things are not secretly/hidden knowledge to us, but God has shown and tell us how He worked all things mightily and powerfully.
The psalmist of this chapter tells how excellent is the name of God in all the earth, that it could not compare with the things that for us are perfect.
For the psalmist, the name of JESUS will be the MOST excellent above all. Why?
1. In the name of JESUS, all things were created. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
2. In the name of JESUS, there is salvation. Act 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
3. In the name of JESUS, all knees shall bow. Philippians 2:10 "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;"
4. In the name of JESUS, what you've asked God will give you. John 14:13-14 [13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
5. In the name of JESUS, you can be healed. Act 3:6-7 [6] Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. [7] And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Therefore, we can use the name of Jesus in various ways to see how His name works mightily and powerfully nowadays.
WHEN WE CAN USE HIS NAME?:
1. When we are in trouble.
2. When we feel afraid.
3. When we are bondage in sickness and diseases.
4. When the devil tempts us to do sin.
5. When we ask anything in prayer.
WHEN WE CANNOT USE THE NAME OF JESUS?
In VAIN. Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
When is the time of vain, God is telling us here?:
1. In Joke - When we use the name of Jesus to play on others.
2. In trifling - We look at the name of Jesus as has small value on it.
3. When we use the name of Jesus, and after we will speak cuss words.
Brethren
Let's use the name of Jesus in every way we could. Especially when the devil is attacking you. There is no better help we can get but by Jesus alone!
If you use the name of Jesus in vain, STOP IT! For God will count you sinner if you continue doing it.
For it is the day that we should know how powerful and mighty the name of Jesus is.
USE THE NAME OF JESUS PROPERLY IN A WAY THAT EVERYONE WILL HEAR YOU WILL BE BLESS.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
I pray that we have the courage to say the name of Jesus especially in time of need as we say His name, may we see how powerful and excellent His name is.I plead the blood of Jesus to cover you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
