Matthew 15:18 - THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

Speak for the Lord.

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

How many of you praise God because you have a tongue that can speak? How often do you use your tongue wisely? Do you speak blessings, or do you curse someone?

Truth: Our mouth speaks what is in our hearts.

Matthew 15:18

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Therefore, we cannot deny what is in our hearts, for our mouth speaks what is within it.

AGAIN, THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

Sometimes we say what we think is right even if the person we are speaking to is in pain. Are you a tactless or rude person? Do you talk to others without considering their feelings?

TRUTH (accept it or not): A tactless or rude person is an unmannered person. Think about this: you may be educated and a professional, but the way you speak can reveal poor manners.

As far as I know, we can say whatever we want to say to someone nicely and properly, without hurting them.

ALWAYS REMEMBER: THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

The Bible tells us how powerful the tongue is. We can actually harm ourselves by the way we speak, and surprisingly, we can also harm others with our words.

1. Proverbs 18:21

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Once we speak, life and death are before us, and we can choose between them. The way we speak reveals our choice—life when we speak blessings, and death when we speak curses to someone.

Believe it or not, people often speak death nowadays. Why? Because they think it is easier to say a curse (death) rather than a blessing (life).

Do you agree with this? Listen to the voices of people today—what do you hear from them?

2. James 3:5–6

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth! (6) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”

The tongue is a small part of the human body, yet it can lead us toward destruction. We ourselves bring harm when we speak curses to others.

Sometimes the curses we speak toward others also affect our own lives. How deceitful the tongue can be!

BRETHREN

Brethren, these are not the Lord’s plans for you.

You cannot deny that we use our tongues every day. But as you read this, learn to think before you speak.

Even when you are mad or angry, and you feel pushed to curse someone or say hurtful words, remember that what you speak is heard by God, and it cannot be erased.

Use your tongue to speak blessings and not curses. Choose to live a life where you become a channel of God’s blessings because of the way you speak.

BRETHREN, THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!

Proverbs 15:4

“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life:
but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.”

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Todays Prayer

Letter for my Brethren

I pray that in these last days our tongues will always be filled with blessings that honor our God.

May all of us become mouthpieces of God in these last days. I plead the blood of Jesus to cover you,

in Jesus’ name, Amen.
