For the Battle is not yours but Gods

PSALM 3:1-8

BACKGROUND OF THIS PSALM

This chapter is known as "DAVID'S FLED FROM ABSALOM"

ABSALOM is King David's son, from Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur. (2 Samuel 3:3),

He is the brother of Tamar, whom Amnon his brother loved (2 Samuel 13:2) from King David's wife Ahinoam the Jezreelites. (2 Sam 13:2)

Absalom was a rebellious son, he became rebellious because his sister Tamar was exploiting her weakness (2 Samuel 13:22) by their brother Amnon, and King David has no judgment or decision made for that case.

Therefore, Absalom makes his decision to kill his brother. (2 Samuel 13:28)

He also wants the position of his father, King David. The only possible to take the throne is to kill his father and reign the throne.

For Absalom, it is not impossible to do that although he knew that his father is a strong warrior and has vigilant men. 

King David's troops can kill and win battles from countries that are larger than they, stronger than they.

But why King David fled?

Reason of King David's Fled:

1. Remember in King David's testimony to King Saul, he can kill a bear, lions if wild animals were near his flock. 

2. He knows he has strong warriors and vigilant men that can kill whosoever trying to kill him.

These reasons were in the mind of King David that's why they fled from Absalom because He doesn't want his son to be killed by his men.

King David has a pure heart, that no matter whom, trying to kill him, has nothing to do with them but to trust them in the hands of the Lord, whom he believes in.

ARE YOU IN THE BATTLE?

Like King David, we are in the battle, that we think that they are encamped around us and looking after us on how they going to overthrow and kill us. 

Remember these things:

1. Not all battles we were in we need to face them with a straightforward attack.

2. Not all battles we were in, we were strong enough to win.

3. Not all battles we were in, we need to believe in our strength and ability.

As King David did, he never does a straightforward attack but he fled, not because he was afraid of his son Absalom and his company, he never also, trust in his strength and ability that he can win the battle.

But King David did was:

1. He trusts his battle in the hands of the Lord.

2. He trusts in the Lord's might.

3. He believes that God can save and redeemed him in that battle.

Brethren, 

In every battle we were in, try and learn not to look on it, but look on how the Lord can be saved and redeemed.

Don't trust in your ability and strength, for in every battle you don't have enough strength to fight and to win those.

Lastly; THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS BUT God!

Psalm 3:8 "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah."
